Fair Grove Heritage Reunion 08
Today we joined Steve and Christy at the annual Fair Grove Heritage Reunion which featured a parade, arts and crafts, good food, and entertainment. We caught this country boy who fell asleep in the front row while listening to the bluegrass group.

Weeee

It was so good to visit with Granny Lindsey and the Martin's this weekend. We ate some great KC BBQ, had a fish fry, roasted hot dogs and smores, set off fireworks, played cards, soaked in the hot-tub, road 4-wheelers, played Rock Band II and did some swinging. Even Granny got an underdog.

Kyla Turns Six

Kyla celebrated her birthday with seventeen friends at Pump it up this year. Her friends came from both Pre-K and Kindergarten, which made the event extra special. Even the adults had fun jumping around and sliding. We ate doughnuts instead of cake to mix things up some. Granny and the Martin family came in from out of town. Marcie and Danny joined in as well.
Daddy hung a new tree swing for her at home and she likes how high it goes. Thanks to those of you who were able to join us and participate in the fun!

Zaylee is 8 Months Old

Zaylee is getting so big! She's wearing size 12-18 and continues to eat well. She has been showing signs of crawling by lifting her belly while doing a push up but only manages to go backwards. We practice standing and blanace everyday so my guess is she'll walk first. She loves to give mommy hugs. She says "vavavava", "bababab", "dadadad", "mamamam". She enjoys taking baths and splashing in the water. Her favorite food is still sweet potatoes. She also has a surprise to show daddy when it gets back from training!

Copperhead Snake

So far this year we've seen four copperhead snakes on our property. Three of them were smaller ones, but this one was a mature one at about 23". They seem to like to warm up on our concrete driveway. We usually let friendly snakes slither away, but the copperheads always end up headless when Justins done with them.

Uptown Cafe Update
I stopped by the Uptown Cafe in Branson for a malt last weekend, actually it's now called "Jackie B Good's Uptown Cafe".
The place was fairly clean but it clearly showed some wear and tear. It appears they had some water ceiling damage too.
They don't have Micros anymore and just use paper notes to take the orders.
The hostess is also the cashier.
The taxi has two pretty low tires.
The lunch and fountain menu was about the same, except they renamed some things like their split is called the "Hannah Banana Split".
I don't think they offer the dinner items we had.
The biggest change was they were tearing a section out of the west side and building a stage for karaoke, but it didn't make much sense to me because most of the restaurant wouldn't be able to see the stage with where they put it, unless they plan to tear more booths down?
They said they were working hard on a liquor license too.

Made it Home Safe

My dad returned to Alaska yesterday. We sure enjoyed his visit to Missouri and hope that during his next visit he'll stay for a month! During my dad's short vacation he visited his brother Steve, mother Gloria, Uncle Marvin and Aunt Margaret. He has an appointment later this week with a radiation specialist and will be starting treatment soon afterwards.

Helping with Homework

Grandpa T helped Kyla with her homework tonight. She practiced writing the numbers 0-9 and will begin learning cursive letters soon.
