Last weekend we hosted a visit from Chery and her family. Seven of them came to Kansas City for a day at Worlds of Fun and stayed with us. It was great visiting with them, playing cards and hanging out.

Kyla's field trip this year was at the Agriculture Hall of Fame. The students watched an educational movie, picked corn, milked a cow, fed chickens, ground cornmeal, took a hayride, planted vegetables, toured a farming museum, and much more. Marcie and I both participated.

Last weekend was my Alaska Baby shower. Several of my high school classmates and family attended. I'd like to thank Heidi Cox for organizing the event and Rebecca Kensinger for hosting it at her house. I'd also like to give Amanda Larby a special thank you for coming back after the party with a huge pile of 0-3 month clothes that were new/hardly worn! Talk about scoring big. My luggage was PACKED on the way back.

Thanks to everyone that attended. It was great seeing everyone again, and of course thanks for your kind words and generosity.

Kyla and I visited with the Lindsey family in Springfield yesterday. We went to the park, ate dinner, and played cards.

I participate in a charity flag football game once a year at work. This year wasn't as rough as the last two, but I'm a bit sore. Been really enjoying the hot-tub the past couple nights :-)

Ang had a nice relaxing birthday weekend at home.

I surprised Ang by painting the baby room and assembling a crib. She had hinted the colors she would like, so I went to Lowes and picked a couple out. Before presenting the room to her, I wrapped up Kyla in a blanket and laid her in the crib as she fake-cried. Ang laughed and seemed very happy.

Baby update: She is kicking more these days and you can see her limbs press against Ang's belly. She weighs 1 Ibs 10 oz and is 13 inches long. It looks like she's going to have my big toe. Ang is no longer on pelvic rest! She is still taking a daily shot for her blood condition and considered high risk. Her doctor says everything else looks really good.

I've been training Kyla on Guitar Hero. She's actually surprising me lately with her strum skills. I wonder how long it will take her to beat Daddy?
