Sheibals Come to Garden City

This weekend my cousin Carrie, her husband Ray and their two youngest children Cody and Kalie came to visit us. We had an eventful weekend that consisted of playing Hold'em, Charades, Ladder Golf, Rock Band and Apples to Apples. Carrie enjoyed laying out and watching the birds and was very exacted she got to see a humming bird! Cody and Kalie's birthdays are next week, and this weekend getaway is their early celebration start as they wrap up today at Ocean's of Fun in KC.

Quote: Swim

Today's quote is from Kyla:
"Today I swam by myself, without any noodle or floaty or anything, for almost three minutes!"

I was SO proud to witness this today. She did excellent and I was the proudest parent at the pool (I think I made a scene :-). She received M&M's as her reward.

Quote: Noah

I'm adding a new label called "quotes" because I periodically hear something that makes me laugh or ponder on, and would like to share/remember it.

Today's quote is from Kyla:
"Noah was asked to put two of every creature in the ark, but he didn't put whales and other fish in there did he? I mean the rain wouldn't really do anything to them would it?"

Fawn

One of our doe deer had a baby recently and we've enjoyed watching her run around the backyard. Fawns loose their spots by October when they are weened.

Zaylee is 5 Months Old

It's exhausting being five months old. Zaylee is getting big, weighing in at 18.6 lbs, wearing 6-9 month clothes, and size 3 diapers. She observes everything with wide eyes and an open mouth. She is bashful at times and it's adorable. I started my new job this week and look forward to working from home with her.

Father's Day

I was fortunate to spend this Father's Day weekend with my family. Kyla did most of the planning and things worked out just as she wanted. On Friday night we chased fireflies and made a firefly jar-lantern. Saturday we rode 4-wheelers and bikes and sprayed water at each other. Then we dipped and ate Oreos with milk together and watched Pee Wee's Big Adventure. Sunday was church, then a special lunch and then swimming at the neighbor's pool.

Zaylee has been sweeter than ever and trying her best to communicate verbally. She has also been enjoying her Johnny Jumper seat more. I enjoy giggling her belly and making her smile and laugh.

God Bless Angela and her family, for this week they received the news that her dad, Tim Woodward has pancreatic cancer. Doctors give him six months to a year to live, and little hope for any recovery. He has been in a lot of pain and has been loosing weight. This has been difficult news for her and I've been that shoulder to cry on this weekend. Please remember her family in your thoughts and prayers.

Uncle Johnny Turns Fifty!

Last weekend I celebrated my Uncle Johnny's fiftieth birthday with him in Springfield, MO. We went out to eat at Ryan's Buffet with Aunt Mikey, Aunt Betty, and Zaylee. My uncle is fighting a battle with bladder cancer and goes in for surgery at the end of June to remove his bladder, prostate, and appendix. Please keep him in your prayers.
