Cruisin' Branson Lights

Music: Jars of Clay
Mood: Relaxed

Went swimming with Kyla again today. She is building up more confidence in the water and loves to jump in off the ladder.

One of the best weekends to go to Branson is when they have the "Cruisin' Branson Lights" event. It's when they shut the popular 76 hwy strip down, and thousands of spectators sit on the sidewalk and watch over 1,000 vehicles cruise on by. I've gone to it the past 7 years and it's a blast. They have hotrod cars, imports, riceys, hydraulics, nitrous fueled, 4x4 trucks & SUVs, motorcycles, etc. Lots of major horse power. It's like a big party. Everyone brings their coolers and chairs and has a good time. Marcie and I and some friends plan to attend. We may get some lake time too.

Here is their crappy site that doesn't really give it good justice:

Ahh...More Great News

Music: Soulfly
Mood: Depressed

From Good to Great. Another MIS reorg at my work with another level of management. That seems like the fifth one in two years. It is so unfortunate how things have turned around since our first reorg. So much has changed, and so much has gone down hill. My co-workers are breaking down more and more each day over the same old topics that don't seem to get resolved. And more processes are added as perks are taken away. Depressing...

Candle Risks?

Music: XM Radio: The Torch
Mood: Puzzled

M started a new part-time job last week as an assistant manger at our local Yankee Candle store. My favorite scent of theirs is Clean Cotton. Anyways, she came home last night and the fragrances of the candles were radiating off of her. So much so that my mind got to wondering if there are any risks in breathing in whatever the candles release. I did some research and learned a lot about candles. Some of the sites say, quality candles are worth the extra money. Buying a candle from a company that uses quality waxes, wicks & fragrances with clean burning technology is important. But they didn't talk much about the type of wax they use which for most is paraffin. But those that sold beeswax candles have plenty to say. After reading about paraffinoma and the toxins that candles released, I thought I confirmed my original suspicions. Or is this really that big of a deal? Are the beeswax companies just trying to scare us into purchasing their products? I decided to write Yankee Candle an email to get their response on what the beeswax sites say. I'll let you know when they get back with me.

Another good article

The candle industry is huge! It looks like some people take their candle shopping pretty seriously.

CD Reviews: Black Eyes and The Ghost

Music: Black Eyes, The Ghost
Mood: Ready 4 Weekend

cujofan introduced me to a couple new bands today.

Black Eyes: A New York Band that reminded me of a punky Primus/Beastie Boys/Zeplin mix, with dual lyrics, bass, and drums. Amazing album. Check these guys out if you can.

The Ghost: Reminded me of Thursday. Good Stuff. Sorry, with a name like "The Ghost" I couldn't find much on the internet about them, but I think they are a local St. Louis band.

Independence Weekend

Music: subseven
Mood: sleepy

I saw a small crappy laser/fireworks display on the 3rd in KC. So crappy, that lawyers actually got involved and the firework vendor has agreed to try it again in September. I saw a much larger display with my mom on the 4th in Springfield with 90,000 other people.

Then I went on down to my Dad's house and visited with Leslie, Chad & Ashley. The highlight of my weekend was a 4-wheeler ride in the country with M & K. We drove to a nearby creek and got a little sun.
