Merry Christmas

Greetings Family, Friends, and website visitors. I hope you are staying warm and safe this holiday season, enjoying a Merry Christmas, and trust you are pondering on the reason for the season as am I. I’m currently in beautiful Alaska celebrating Christmas with Angie’s family. They have a fair sized gathering at her parent’s house with lots of snacks and family fun.
Our highlight this year was the birth of my daughter Zaylee Liora Lindsey in January. It’s a tender joy watching her grow, develop, and learn new things. She’s a happy baby and full of smiles, hugs and snuggles. She’s been active this year and already done a fair amount of traveling to destinations like San Francisco, Denver, Seattle, Omaha, Branson, and Alaska (Alaska three times).
Kyla started Kindergarten this year and has been applying herself well. She enjoys learning and I enjoy helping her with her homework. We also spend lots of time playing with each other and finding things to do at our home in the country. She likes to ride her four-wheeler, swing on her new tree-swing, and most of all she enjoys playing mommy with her new sister.
Angie’s new remote job was offered conveniently at a perfect time. She can reap the full benefits that a stay at home mom can gather when raising a baby, plus be challenged at work from home with a helpful income. She’s a great mom and a great worker, and I really appreciate her extra efforts this year. We were grateful to getaway together this summer in Jamaica and relax.
A lot of Angie’s family and friends paid us a visit this year in Garden City and it was fun to share some good times with them. We entertained aunts and uncles, cousins, and friends for entire weekends. Plus her Mom visited us for nearly three weeks and her Dad (Tim) stayed with us for about five days. Everyone has been pulling for Tim and his battle with cancer. He’s had a tough year and isn’t going down without a fight. When news like this hits, it impacts us all, and forces us to reflect on life and the value of those that mean such much to us. I hope you all have some holiday cheer and wish you well in the new year.
Sincerely,
Justin

Mmmm, Cookies!

Haily, Rebecca, and I made some Fun Dough cookies last night. The concept was to have four colors of sugar cookie dough and make creative shapes and animals, then cook and eat them.

Meeting Hayden

Hayden, Brenna and their parents came by my mom and dad's house to visit. Hayden really looks like his uncle Clint. Heidi is enjoying her little boy and Brenna is a great big sister.

Hulu
Hulu is my latest favorite site for entertainment. Excellent content and a great player to buffer it.

Tim Update
It's been a while since I've updated you on my Dad's battle with Pancreatic cancer.
Two weeks ago my Dad was in Anchorage to start his new round of chemotherapy and had been complaining that he was having a difficult time breathing. When he arrived at the hospital an x-ray was done on his chest. They drained over 5 liters of fluid from him and kept him overnight for observation. He was only breathing on 1/4 lung due to all the fluid that had built up. After his chemo he returned to Soldotna and seemed to be doing better.
Last week while at the hospital getting some blood work done before heading back to Anchorage for the next chemo treatment they did another x-ray on my dad's chest cavity and it had started to fill back up. Friday he went in to surgery to have a drain put in. They kept him for a couple days. I was concerned, so I bumped my flight up a week and arrived in Alaska on Monday (Justin will still join us for the holidays next week).
When I arrived on Monday, Dad was home with a tube (1/2" diameter) coming from under his right arm-pit to a container that was collecting the fluid that was draining from him. His eyes lit up when he saw me and Zaylee - as it was a surprise for me to visit early. My mom was overcome with tears when she saw us.
The past two days have been okay. My dad seems to be doing much better and is moving around slowly. He has to carry his breathing/draining machine around and after the x-ray yesterday they are estimating Thursday or Friday to remove the hose. He has been tired today and looking slightly pale but as always, in great spirits considering everything. His next MRI is in the last week of December. Then they will determine the status of the tumor in his pancreas.
These are tough times for all of my immediate family, and the holidays seem extra special this year.

Fun Birthday

Did I enjoy my birthday? Well if you watch the video above, you will get a peek at my day. We skied Winter Park until 4:00. Then we soaked in a hot tub overlooking the Rocky Mountains. Then we ate my favorite pizza in the entire country. Then we went to a pub and entered in a holdem' tournament. Out of 24 people, I went out in 14th place and Angie took 4th. It was a great birthday.

Cheese

The photo studio is coming along nicely. Just a couple more items to purchase and a couple things to figure out more, and then Angie can open for business. I'm impressed with the photo quality on some of her practice shots.
