Projekt Revolution

Music: KoRn
Mood: Adrenalized

Well I was fortunate to attend Projekt Revolution twice this week. First in Bonner Springs KS, then in Sommerset WI. No doubt, the Sommerset show was more enjoyable because it didn't have the stadium seating and therefore I could rush the stage and join the party. This was one of the best concerts offered this summer and I really enjoyed it. I had already seen Linkin Park four times before, but this tour was their best so far. The stage props, lights and their performance were incredible. My two biggest highlights were:
1) KoRn-They rocked the stage hard. Played most of their best hits.
2) Mini Doughnuts-OMG have you tried these things? They are so yummy!

I saw two movies this weekend. Starsky & Hutch and Hero.

Need Your Help: Palms Girl & iPods

Music: Rammstein
Mood: Chillin

Well my friend Riley passed me word that a girl we went to college with and hung out with is trying to further her modeling career by participating in the Palms Girl competition. April Scott is a great girl, really friendly, smart, and just a real sweetheart. Please help by simply submitting your email address and voting for her.

I tried my first MountainDew Pitch Black. Quite tasty, fruity, Mmmm! Last weekend I tried the Baja Blast. That was great too. I wish they would sell a variety pack with all of the MountainDew flavors. I think that would be a big hit.

Cujofan was telling me today about a free iPod offer. Read up on it, it sound pretty legit. I went ahead and signed up to the BMG service to grab some extra music I've been wanting. If you wanna participate and help me out, start here or pass this link on to a friend. I'd appreciate it! http://www.freeiPods.com/default.aspx?referer=8278804

I finally saw my first Blue Collar TV episode. You put these guys together and you are guaranteed a good laugh. Larry the Cable Guy is great.

The Cost of Kids

Music: Linkin Park
Mood: Proud to be a Dad

Kyla is sure growing up fast. We've been spending some great time together at the park, drawing, reading, playing blocks, etc.. However, she is starting to enter the terrible twos and her mom and I can sure tell. The word "No" has been uttered out of her mouth more lately. It's kinda cute. A friend of mine passed me this email today. It's a little cheesy, but being a dad now, I can relate to this type of stuff.

I started watching a new series on FX called Rescue Me. It's been real entertaining and I think I'm hooked on it for this season. I didn't expect Denis Leary to be so good at his role.

Cheaper Laptops

Music: XM Radio: MTV Radio
Mood: Exhausted from work emails

Often things at my work just really don't make sense. Today there was a lot of that going on. The sad part is, I really don't think I can do anything about it without risking my own job. It's so sad. Morale is still so low among my piers. We had two more associates I work with put their notice in this week. I'll just stop there.

I would really like a nice laptop for Christmas. I've yet to make a laptop purchase yet because they are so expensive. However, Wal-Mart just started selling laptops for less than $600. That's not exactly the laptop I'm looking for, but knowing such a big giant is selling them so cheap should make prices on the laptop I want pretty competitive around Christmas. But I also have to consider upgrading my primary PC. So I guess ultimately it all boils down to: How well will my existing PC run Half-Life 2?

I was surprised to learn that for the first time ever, more Americans are using broadband to access the Internet than dial-up. That is a significant stat for a guy like me that does web development.

A while back, Marcie told me not to give Kyla popcorn. I'm glad I listened.

Counter-Strike Source

Music: Britney Spears
Mood: Ready to CS

I'm pretty excited to play the new Counter-Strike Source beta tomorrow. Cujofan shared some preview movies on it today and it looks much better. Also check out this preview. It links to an informative video on the game.

I've been enjoying the summer olympics. I should have done Gymnastics when I was younger. Yeah right! The men's volleyball rules. I'm waiting for someone to get a broken nose. They spike the ball so hard. But you what really had me glued to the tv? Badminton. It was kinda like watching Forest Gump play ping-pong. Very Fast.

I've got some friends that will be happy to hear pornography is good for you.

Kids, watch where you throw rocks!

The Cruise is Over

Music: XM Radio: XM Comedy
Mood: Sleepy

Cruisin' Branson Lights was fun. Tons of cool cars and trucks to see. Lot's of fun but the cops were really out this year handing out tickets to those that decided to burn some rubber on the strip. That made it less fun, and the drivers couldn't show off their HP. I did see some very cool wheels, the new Vett, and the old Bat Mobile, but not near as many vehicles as last year. Plus we got to ride some go-carts and play some mini golf.

I watched The Butterfly Effect.

Word Up

Music: Cameo
Mood: Laughing

OK, so I knew Korn's new cover single of Cameo's "Word Up" was coming... Well I finally heard it today on XM Radio and all I have to say is WTF! I don't know what these guys are thinking, but they better straighten up. Knowing Jonathan Davis, hopefully it's just some kind of joke.
Korn has recorded several other covers for possible inclusion on the disc, including Pink Floyd's "Another Brick In The Wall," Public Enemy's "Fight The Power," Faith No More's "We Care A Lot," and Nine Inch Nails' "Head Like A Hole." The latter features a guest appearance from Linkin Park vocalist Chester Bennington. Greatest Hits is tentatively due out on October 12th. more

Jerks at Work

Music: Tool
Mood: Annoyed

Not the best day at work. I'm having a hard time trying to decide which book to buy: Jerks at Work or Coping With Difficult People.

Marcie and I are disconnecting our home phone service tomorrow. We hardly use it anyways and we think we can do all our calling with our cell phones.

We have started planning Kyla's 2nd birthday. It will be Saturday, September 18th in KC.

I'm considering scheduling a LAN party in September.

Reno 911 was great tonight.

Concert Review: Soulfly

Music: Crisis
Mood: Sore Neck

Well last night I got my butt kicked by Soulfly. What an incredible show. These guys played their guitars and drums so hard, I'm still in awe. They played a full two-hour set non-stop. I knew about half of the songs. Their Sepultura and Machine Head roots were well recognized and they played some major metal. This was probably the hardest show I've ever seen. Even heavier than Metallica and Rammstein. The crowd was great, the pit was huge, and the The Fillmore is a excellent venue. I jumped in the pit for one song, and it was pretty intense, then I stood to the side of it. There was this one song, where about 30 people were in the pit circling so fast, that it actually created a breeze and felt like a fan was blowing on us. I can't say I've seen or felt that before.

Opening the show was Crisis, which I had never heard of, but the lead singer has a very prominent stage presence with her five-foot blond dreads hanging and head-banging every which way. A couple of their songs were pretty intense.

Crisis was followed up by the group ill nino. They were much better than I had expected and really stirred up the crowd well. Their drummer was inspirational to me and made we want to practice my stick-twirl. He's damn good at it.

Mein Teil

Music: Mortal Treason
Mood: Unproductive

Man it seems like all I do is status reports at work. Not a very productive last couple of days. I actually had a 30 minute meeting today with five other people to discuss the development of a graphic that they didn't have the dimensions for, didn't know what they wanted it to say, but they think they knew the color. Quality.

I heard Rammstein's new single "Mein Teil" on XM Radio today. Great stuff. I can't wait until their new CD hits the USA. I will no doubt go to at least two of their USA tour shows.

We had pork chops for dinner. Kyla tried some of Daddy's horseradish sauce, and to my surprise she really liked it. Marcie bought her a new kids table and chair set. She loves it.

Doom 3 came out today. Not sure if I'll pick it up but I'm very curious to see the impressive graphics. I think I'll wait for HL2 for my next game purchase.

Potty Training

Music: XM Radio: The Fish
Mood: Very Proud

After patiently waiting for about an hour and a half, Kyla finally went potty. Once I realized it, I shouted for joy and we had a small celebration in the bathroom. Mommy was at work when it all happened and when she returned home that night we had another party. Way to go Kyla! :-) (Remember that your DADDY taught you that one)
