Scratched Cornea

After a nice itailian dinner that mom prepared for me, we took what started to be a nice walk on my property. As I walked through a patch of woods and she followed, a branch sprung back and clipped Mom just right in the eye, scratching her cornea pretty bad. She dropped to her knees and had instant pain, watery eyes, and her sinuses started to drain. She tried to wait it out about 15 minutes, but the irritation and pain seemed to persist so I drove her to the Cass County emergency room. The doctor examined the eye with a dye the clearly identified the damage, then he flushed her eye with a sterile saline eye irrigation solution, then the real relieve kicked in when he applied three drips of Tetracaine Hydrochloride (great stuff), then he spread some Gentamicin Sulfate Ophthalmic Ointment on the eye, then shut the eye and covered it with a patch. She doing much better now and resting.
